The U.S. Navy conducted the largest exercises in years in the South China Sea last weekend, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The aircraft carriers USS Ronald Reagan and USS Nimitz launched hundreds of jet sorties simulating attacks on enemy bases.
China’s propoganda newspaper, the Global Times, said the U.S. drills coincided with Chinese military drills occurring in the same time frame, touting their “aircraft carrier killer” missiles.
The South China Morning Post reported Chinese army military drills in Hong Kong, following the passage of the city’s new national security law.
